Seed drilling is a way of planting grass seed over a large area by making use of a machine called a seed drill. The seed drill digs a hole, plants the seed and covers it back up. Seed drilling is best for larger areas where other ground cover like trees and bushes is not an issue. With seed drilling the ground should be prepared in advance with fertilizers to facilitate growth.

Although drill seeding works great as a permanent solution it is not for immediate erosion control as it takes time for the new growth to sprout and until it does this method should be coupled with a temporary erosion control method.
